Discover the SIX UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES IN ISRAEL:

1. The Old City of Jerusalem

Enter via one of the eight gates to the city and visit the Western Wall (the wailing wall – HAKOTEL- Judaism’s holiest site is the only remaining wall of the Temple Mount after the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E.), Southern Wall, the Dome of the Rock (Haram esh-Sharif - where the Jewish Holy Temple stood. Jews believe this is where Abraham offered to sacrifice his son Isaac, and Moslems believe Mohammed rose to heaven from here on his horse), Temple Mount, Via Dolorosa (on which Jesus walked to his death and the Garden Tomb where religious tradition tells us he was buried), Church of the Holy Sepulcher (considered by many of the Christian world to be the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and subsequent resurrection), the Holy City, Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Mount Zion (where the Room of the Last Supper, King David's Tomb and the Dormition Abbey, which stands on the ruins of the 5th century Hagia Zion Church), Church of St. Peter of Galicantu (Located on the southeastern slopes of Mt. Zion, this site is venerated as the site of the House of Caiaphas as well as the original location of the Church of St. Peter) and the Garden Tomb.

2. Masada

3. Bauhaus Tel Aviv
(“ White City”)
4. Akko
an exceptional historic town. A port walled city that preserves the substantial remains of the its medieval Crusader buildings beneath the existing Moslem fortified town dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.
5. Biblical “Tels”
6. Desert Cities of Haluza, Mamshit, Avdat and Shivta

Israel has something for all.

This tiny country, the mere size of NJ, offers the American “beach type” traveler four seas, each with individual characteristics and moods: the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee providing breathtaking views and relaxing beaches. As you tour the country, from Red Sea, in the south, toward the Dead Sea and continue to the West en route to the Mediterranean, finally heading north to the Sea of Galilee, you pass alongside sacred places and beautiful panoramic views that keep changing as you crisscross the country. Recreation activities and adventure opportunities, great for families and individuals alike (such as rafting, kayaking, jeep touring, mountain climbing and more) are available to you at any time. And for you, the “desert type” Israel gives you two choices: the Negev and the Judean Desert! What is fascinating about the Israeli deserts are on one hand the rocky, spring-studded hills and on the other hand springs and streams transforming themselves into tempting Oasis in the middle of the desert. And those who find Archaeology fascinating will join the “national sport” digging and getting their hands “dirty” in any of the many archaeological parks found about anywhere in the country Pilgrims and spiritual travelers ( Jewish, Christian or Catholic) will find in Israel more holy sites than in any other place world-wide. Whatever your special interest Israel has it all!
